AUTUMN GASSHUKU (NATIONAL)

Outline of Event: Weekend residential training course in the beautiful Gower Peninsula, organised by the London Karate-do Shoto Association under the guidance of Dr Mohi Chowdhury.
   
Limited to: 36 residential applicants or 50 including non-residential applicants (dealt with on a first come, first served basis).
   
Suitable for: All grades/skill levels.
All ages from 18 upwards.
Younger applicants may be considered on two conditions:
1) They are accompanied by a responsible adult (e.g. parent or teacher acting in loco parentis).
2) They have a letter of recommendation from their sensei or principal teacher.

Guests, partners, family are welcome at this event. They do not take part in the training, of course, but are welcome to take part in the social side of the event. The fee, however, remains the same per person.

   
Training Details: Training will be on the clifftops or on Rhossili beach (in the water or on the sand), provided we have good weather. If the weather is poor, training will be in Reynoldston Village Hall.

The following instructors have been invited to teach at this year's Autumn Gasshuku:

Accommodation: Next to the sandy beach at Port Eynon on the Gower Peninsular, the centre is a recently refurbished spacious Victorian village house with a large fenced garden.

What to bring:
  • Bed linen (quilts and pillows are provided)
  • Karate-gi (preferably two, if you have them)
  • Bo and jo (if you have them)
  • Tabi (optional)
  • Warm & waterproof clothing
  • Evening wear (for the course dinner). Dress code is 'smart casual'.
  • Towels.
  • Personal hygiene items (e.g. toothbrush, paste, soap, shaving items etc.)
   
Cost & Deadlines : All deadlines will be strictly adhered to, without exception. The prices listed below are residential rates. If a person wishes to participate on a non-residential basis, the cost will be 50% less.

The prices listed above includes the following:

  • Self-catering accommodation (1 or 2 nights, as required).
  • Local travel within the Gower Peninsula (a minibus will be hired).
  • Training for the weekend (inc. tuition, hall hire, equipment costs).
  • Course dinner at the King Arthur Hotel.
  • Grading fee (if applicable).

The prices listed above do NOT include the following:

  • Travel to the Gower Peninsula
  • Subsistence

Chief instructors may attend as the guests of the gasshuku (i.e. free). All we humbly ask is that they share their knowledge and skill by teaching at least one session during the weekend.
